ABOUT

Growing up, I had a small set of Encyclopedia Brown books that I "borrowed" from my older brother. Each book starred Leroy Brown, a 10 year old detective who could sleuth out anything. To say I was absolutely captivated by them would be an understatement. It didn't matter that I wasn't particularly skilled at solving the cases, I devoured the books repeatedly. This experience planted seeds at a young age - a love for the hidden, for the unknown, for mysteries. The process of piecing together clues, the unraveling of an unexpected story, and finding meaning where none seemed present unlocked a vast new world. I view nature as the ultimate mystery, it serves as a backdrop we use to better understand life and ourselves. Through my work, I explore the depths of the human experience in relation to botanical symbolism, relying on elements of nature to help piece together a puzzle that unveils a deeper narrative.

Incorporating elements of floriography, iconography, and meticulous attention to detail, I weave a tale that speaks to the mysteries of both human experience and the wonders of nature. Combining illustration and paper crafting techniques, I aim to create an immersive experience where viewers can lose themselves in sensation and the rich tapestry of the natural world. Each piece becomes a journey, a form of emotional alchemy that transforms the intangible expressions of the human condition into tangible works of art. Ultimately, I hope my creations serve as a channel for others to connect with the highs and lows of life, offering a space for reflection and a deeper connection to our natural world.
